As Melbourne moves through the longest nights of winter, you’re invited to pause, soften and restore.
This two-hour Winter Solstice retreat brings together five deeply nourishing practices: Yin Yoga to release tension through slow, supported stillness; guided meditation to calm the mind and create space for reflection; crystal bowl sound healing to settle the nervous system through vibration and deep listening; energy healing as a gentle invitation to rest, receive and rebalance; and aromatherapy to create warmth, grounding and calm through the power of scent.
Each element has been chosen with intention — to help your body unwind, your mind quieten and your energy return to centre.
Come as you are. No experience needed.
Just bring warm layers, an open heart and a willingness to rest.
THE RETREAT IN DETAIL:
1. Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga invites you into long, gentle holds that help the body soften, the breath deepen and the mind quieten. Research on Yin Yoga has shown reductions in state anxiety, while broader yoga evidence also supports benefits for sleep quality and nervous system regulation.
2. Meditation
At the darkest point of the year, we pause – not to disappear, but to listen inward. Mindfulness-based practices have been linked with improvements in stress, anxiety, sleep and emotional wellbeing.
3. Sound Bowls
Let sound do the work. Crystal bowls create a deeply immersive experience where the mind has something soft to rest on. Early research into singing bowl meditation found reductions in tension, anxiety, depressed mood and physical discomfort after sound meditation sessions. It’s even being used in patient care!
4. Energy Healing
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop trying so hard.
Energy healing in this retreat is offered as a gentle space for rest, receiving and reconnection. Research into hands-on or hands-near healing practices is still developing, but reviews suggest possible benefits for anxiety, pain and quality of life.
5. Aromatherapy
Scent can shift the whole mood of a room.
For our Winter Solstice retreat, we’ll use grounding winter aromatherapy to create a sense of warmth, calm and sanctuary. Reviews suggest essential oil aromatherapy may help reduce anxiety, and lavender in particular has been studied for sleep quality.
Think soft blankets, candlelight, breath, botanicals and deep winter rest.
